Cosmetic Bonding

Repair Broken Teeth

As cosmetic dentists, Dr. Dougherty, Dr. Klotz, or Dr. Schlossberg can restore the appearance of chipped and broken teeth with cosmetic bonding. After treating the tooth surfaces, the dentist will apply a putty-like bonding material (acrylic resin) and tint, sculpt, and polish it to blend with your natural smile. A high-intensity light will harden the resin. Bonding can eliminate stains, gaps, and even crooked or malformed teeth.

Natural Looking Restorations

For over a century, dentists primarily restored teeth with amalgam, a material made from metals that included mercury. We’ve had to live with amalgam's weaknesses, which include temperature sensitivity, inadequate decay protection, and tooth discoloration as the material corrodes. Amalgams have also been known to crack teeth, since the metal expands when it comes into contact with hot or cold. Furthermore, mercury is a hazardous heavy metal known to cause problems in humans and animals.

Modern materials allow us to provide strong, natural-looking tooth restorations without amalgam. At Bethesda Sedation Dentistry, we use tooth-colored composite resin adhesives to bond teeth. We can provide a bright, healthy, and long-lasting smile with these exciting new techniques and materials in adhesion dentistry.
