Dr. Edward T. Dougherty

For over 20 years, Dr. Dougherty has offered all phases of reconstructive dental care in one convenient locastion, so his patients rarely need to see a specialist. he has studied and practiced sedation dentistry, implantology and cosmetic dentistry since the 1990's. As a general dentist, Dr. Dougherty's educaitonal background commences with his degree in biology from Johns Hopkins University. He completed the master's program in molecular genetics at the University of Virginia and was then accepted into the Advanced Professional Training Program at Maryland Dental School. Dr. Dougherty then served as full-time staff in the Comprehensive Care unit of Johns Hopkins Hospital.

In 1978, he purchased his practice in Bethesda. The history of the practice dates back to 1925 when Dr. Burke practiced from his home in Washington DC. Dr. Dougherty holds Fellowhip with the Misch Implant Institute, having earned certificates for implant surgery, prosthetic restoration courses, bone grafting courses for sinus augmentation surgery, and premaxilla bone grafting. He is also a Diplomat of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. A member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and certified for IV and Oral Sedation and has practiced sedation techniques for over 15 years.
