Meet the Office Team

dental office managerAdrienne Batten, Office Manager/Patient Coordinator

I joined the team at Bethesda Sedation Dentistry in 2009. My prior background was in Sports Marketing at the University of Maryland. I have attended team training on Dental Implants at the Misch Institute in Orlando and team training with the Crown Council. I am certified In Advanced Cardiac Life Support. My husband Paul and I live in Crofton with the newest addition to our family, our Australian Shepherd, Murphy. We love to travel and are proud parents of five kids, four of whom have graduated from college and are off on their own. Our youngest is in her second year of college in Georgia. I am a member of the Washington Society of Landscape painters, and love to paint in my time off.

The thing I love best about working at Bethesda Sedation Dentistry is helping people to overcome their fear of coming to the dentist’s office. I love being part of a team that can help people improve their health and feel great about their smile.

Leah Jones, Certified Dental Assistant

Leah is a wonderful part of our team. She came to us with years of clinical experience in various specialty practices. She not only assists the doctors with your care but is a calming presence for anyone who is nervous about having dental care. Her knowledge and experience, along with her warm smile and gentle reassurance is something that our patients truly appreciate.

Leah hails from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado where she loves to hike, and worked as a guide at Garden of the Gods Park. She is an avid lover of nature and animals. During her leisure time, Leah enjoys spending time with her Chihuahua named Mija, and her Schnauzer named Hunter.

Sarah Griffin, Registered Dental Hygienist

Our dental hygiene program is headed up by Sarah Griffin, RDH a wonderfully gifted, highly educated and very personable team member. Sarah was born in St. Mary’s county Maryland, adjacent to the Potomac River, where she loves to spend time with family and friends. As she began to search for her calling; she realized that it needed to include caring for others. Many in her hometown benefited from her passion for giving, as she spent time caring for senior citizens at an assisted living community in her area.

Sarah graduated from West Virginia University with highest honors and accolades and went on to spend time with several different dental practices before joining us here at Bethesda Sedation Dentistry. Sarah’s post graduate study has included training on the most current techniques for administration of local dental anesthetics. She has also participated in continuing education focused on the most current and effective treatment of periodontal disease.

In 2011, Sarah participated in a volunteer program in Honduras called Global Brigade, providing underprivileged communities with medical and dental care. Last year Sarah helped to organize our office participation in the Southern Maryland Mission of Mercy where the team took part in providing dental care to more than 700 needy adults.

Diane Spainhour, Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

I entered into the dental field in 1987 as a dental assistant. I really feel good about my career choice as I am certain that dentistry was my calling and am happy that I continued my education to become an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. This position combines the things that I love most about dentistry, helping people to achieve their most beautiful smiles, and getting to know our patients. It really is satisfying to know that the work you do every day helps people.

I am also certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and am a qualified orthodontic assistant. I feel like each team member here at Bethesda Sedation Dentistry is truly part of my family. That is the same way each patient is treated, like a member of the family!

Dora Vasquez, Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

I moved to the United States from Bolivia over 20 years ago. I went to college in Rexburg, Idaho and majored in interior design. One summer I took a job at a dental office and to my surprise, found that I became very interested in dentistry and decided to change my career path.

I began as a chair side assistant while undertaking the training necessary to become a full Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. After passing the Board I worked at Children’s Hospital in the Pediatric Dental Unit until joining the great team at Bethesda Sedation Dentistry. I am certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and a qualified orthodontic assistant.

I have a teenage son whom I adore and love spending time with friends and family.
