Does the Dental Implant Process Hurt?
Are you considering dental implants but worried about any pain that may be associated with the procedure? At Bethesda Sedation Dentistry, Dr. Robert Schlossberg and Dr. Deborah Klotz do everything in their power to minimize any potential pain that might be experienced throughout all stages of the treatment process, and most patients report that their level of discomfort was considerably less than anticipated.
Dental Implant Process
During the dental implant procedure, our dentists often utilize sedation dentistry techniques to significantly diminish – or even eliminate – any possible discomfort. Depending on the extent and complexity of your surgery, nitrous oxide, oral sedation, or IV sedation can be employed to help you remain completely relaxed or even asleep throughout the entirety of treatment. Once your procedure is complete and the effects of sedation wear off, postoperative pain medicine can often be used to manage any discomfort you may experience, though it is common for patients to not need this medication at all in the days following surgery.
Dental Implant Experience
Ultimately, every individual’s experience will be different, so any potential levels of pain or discomfort may vary. After a thorough evaluation of your unique needs, Dr. Klotz or Dr. Schlossberg should be able to provide a more personalized idea of what you may be able to expect in regard to all aspects of your dental implant procedure.
